I started eating clean about a year and a half ago, and I have not looked back! Let me start by saying I am not on some kind of diet, it is a lifestyle. The crazy part was that losing weight was never a motivation because I knew that working out would help that, but once I realized I was constantly tired even after getting a full 8 hours of sleep, yeahhh that was enough to do some research. I found out that what you eat and the time you eat not only affects your physical health, it affects your mental health.
When we eat right before we go to bed our bodies never get into a deep sleep because it is too busy breaking down the food we just ate. After reading that I stopped eating late to see if I would notice a change and when I tell you it made such a difference! I was not as sluggish when I woke up and I just felt better throughout my day. After that I decided to do more research on the affects of food itself; I found out about GMOs, which nutrients we need, which food provides what, and how the food we eat actually changes our mood!
The craziest thing about it to me is it not only feels better to eat clean, it tastes better. I actually enjoy eating food that is good for me! What a relief!!!!!! Now, don’t get me wrong, I have not put myself on any type of restriction. If I want to eat french fries or dessert I do so without guilt. We are human, we are not meant to be on restriction, it just makes us want it more. Do your research so you can believe in the lifestyle you choose. I believe in the food choices that I make, so when I eat something that I normally don’t eat I enjoy it, I appreciate, and I do it in moderation.
